This event is a part of The Pride festival in Northeast Iceland 2026 and takes place on Saturday, June 20th. The tour starts in front of the Akureyri museum. Meeting point is by the old church (In front and to the right of the main museum building, as seen from the street).
The tour starts at 16:30 and lasts for about 2 to 2,5 hours. (We advise guests to arrive at the meeting point 5-10 minutes before the starting time)
We will explore some of the key locations around town while learning about queer history in Iceland, with a special focus on Akureyri, weaved in with the history of the town itself. The route is an easy walk that takes us through both old town and downtown.
The tour is delivered by Ása Sóley Andreudóttir. She is an experienced guide who has, along with her co-organizer Rúnar, researched this topic extensively and is passionate about sharing it.
